LORD BELIAL Guitarist Explains Departure
September 19, 2006Guitarist Hjalmar Nielsen of Sweden's LORD BELIAL has issued the following statement regarding his decision to leave the band:
"I want to start with a big THANK YOU to THOMAS, MICKE and ANDERS for this great time with LORD BELIAL that I've had for the past three years. You let me jump on to a moving train on which I learned, developed, had the opportunity to meet a lot of cool people, bands and to face thousands of metalheads banging to our music! Thank you all for this.
"As I'm writing this statement, LORD BELIAL's seventh album, 'Revelation', is completed and actually pumping through my headphones right this moment. What strikes me is that it's a powerful album with a lot of surprises as well as classic LORD BELIAL material and I'm very satisfied with my part in it.
"Then you might ask; why am I leaving? Well, it's just time. I have given LORD BELIAL everything I can give in form of music and therefore decided to continue, or maybe I should say renew, my musical 'quest.' I feel that my last contribution to LORD BELIAL was my best yet and a worthy conclusion of my time in the band, but I must say it makes me sad to not be able to share it with an audience from the stage. There are absolutely no hard feelings involved in my decision and I just hope the best for the guys as they are great people and good friends."
As previously reported, LORD BELIAL will play at the Linköping Metal Massacre II on October 28 at Skylten in Linköping, Sweden.
LORD BELIAL's seventh full-length album, "Revelation", was recorded at Los Angered studio (owned by KING DIAMOND guitarist Andy La Rocque) outside Gothenburg. A late 2006 release via Regain Records is expected.
LORD BELIAL's sixth full-length album, "Nocturnal Beast", was released last November via Regain . The follow-up to 2004's "The Seal of Belial" was recorded at Los Angered.
"The Seal of Belial" received its long-overdue U.S. release on September 20, 2005 via Candlelight Records USA.
